The Importance of Corporate Social Responsibility

Over the 110 years we’ve been in operation, Society Insurance has supported hundreds of causes and nonprofits in the communities we work in.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a value that we hold near and dear to our hearts. In 2024, Society Insurance and our employees contributed to more than 100 causes within our nine-state operating territory.

Our 2024 CSR Footprint

Among the many organizations and programs supported by Society’s donations are Big Brothers Big Sisters, Special Olympics, the American Red Cross, Charity Club, Magalena House in Texas, Fight or Flight and Children’s Hospital in Iowa, Hope Clinic in Georgia and City of Fond Du Lac Fire and Rescue in Wisconsin.

As a leading insurer for restaurants and bars, Society supported nonprofit organizations dedicated to combating food insecurity, including Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and Fondy Food Pantry in Wisconsin, as well as Sevier County Food Ministries in Tennessee and Feeding America.

In addition to financial support, Society employees contributed 430 volunteer hours to a variety of organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Mahalah’s Hope, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Fond du Lac Literacy Services and EmpowHER. The company also hosted the “Big for a Day” event with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

To broaden our impact, we assisted multiple charitable causes through agency and employee match programs. These programs allow Society to provide matching grants to charities chosen by independent insurance agencies and their employees.

Good for Communities – and Business

Since the early years, we have been deeply committed to making a positive difference in the communities we serve. Through both our time and financial contributions, we aim to create lasting, meaningful impact for those in need. And more than ever, consumers and employees are values-driven. Beyond the genuine passion we have for giving back to our communities, CSR is good for business – from attracting and retaining talent to increasing sales.

  • 83% of employees say they would reconsider their jobs if their employer failed to uphold CSR values
  • 77% of employees cited a sense of purpose as a factor in their choice of current employer
  • More than half of global consumers consider a company’s CSR practices when making purchases
  • Companies that focus on ESG initiatives outperform their competitors by 4.8% annually
